In a 2023 Idaho survey, Idaho employers that currently offer child care benefits for employees cited three top reasons for doing so.

Kootenai Hospital Coeur d’Alene, ID
St. Luke’s Children’s Hospital Boise, ID
Micron Technology partners with Treasury Valley Family YMCA to offer the Micron Early Learning Center across the street from the corporate headquarters in Boise. The Micron Early Learning Center is a state-of-the art facility designed to provide affordable, accessible and reliable high-quality child care for the children of Micron employees. The center enrolls 124 children from six weeks to preschool. Micron also offers a Dependent Care Assistance Plan (DCAP) to provide employees an opportunity to put aside up to $5,000 in wages, tax-free, to be used to reimburse child care expenses. Kootenai Hospital offers employees an onsite child care center, Kootenai Kids, serving children from 2 weeks old to 5 years in Coeur d’Alene. The center opens early to accommodate hospital employees. Kootenai Hospital also offers other benefits such as medical, dental, vision, wellness & fitness, a Dependent Care Assistance Plan (DCAP), and an Employee Assistance Plan (EAP). St. Luke’s Children’s Hospital partners with Treasury Valley Family YMCA to offer an onsite child care program, Little Luke’s Early Learning Center, for St. Luke’s employees. The center opens at 6:00am and serves children from 6 weeks old to 5 years old. St. Luke’s also offers other benefits such as medical, dental, vision, wellness & fitness, a Dependent Care Assistance Plan (DCAP), and an Employee Assistance Plan (EAP). Walmart 19 Communities, ID
Boise State University offers an onsite child care program for the children of full-time and part-time Boise State students, faculty and staff. Boise State’s Children’s Center serves infants through children in kindergarten. Given the wait list at this time, the Children’s Center is only serving the faculty, staff, and student families of Boise State University. If space allows, students, staff and faculty from the University of Idaho will be offered spaces. Boise State also offers an array of employee benefits including a Dependent Care Assistance Plan (DCAP). Learn more about Boise State employee benefits.
The University of Idaho offers an onsite child care program, the Children’s Center, that serves students, faculty, staff and community families. The center serves children ages six weeks to six years old. In partnership with families, Center staff use the Ages and Stages Questionnaire as a screening tool for child development. Walmart offers employees an array of employee benefits including health insurance, an Employee Assistance Plan (“Help Now” provided by AirCare), paid time off, including paid sick leave, as well as up to 16 weeks of paid maternity and six weeks of parental leave. Walmart associates know their work schedule two weeks in advance so they can prioritize their well-being and plan for life outside of work. Walmart has stores in Ammon, Blackfoot, Boise, Burley, Caldwell, Chubbuck, Garden City, Hayden, Idaho Falls, Jerome, Meridian, Meridian, Moscow, Mountain Home, Nampa, Ponderay, Post Falls, Rexburg, Smelterville, and Twin Falls.
